 Worship at Brookhaven Minimize

"Praise the Lord!
How good it is to sing praises to our God: for he is gracious,
and a song of praise is fitting."
Psalm 147:1

Worship is central to who we are at Brookhaven Christian Church. Through raising our voices together in song, in praise and in thanksgiving, we become closer to God and to each other. Through the exploration of God's Word, we are brought in closer contact with God's purposes in our world. Through the weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) we are allowed to remember whose we are, and to rededicate ourselves to being all God would have us be. The Communion Table, like our worship, is open to all who would come. We are Christ's church, and it is Christ's table. All are welcome.

We want to welcome you to our service of worship.
Make yourself at home as we join in praise of our Creator and Sustainer! We see worship as participatory, so lift your praises to the LORD our God. At our time of greeting please feel free to move around and greet those worshiping around you. Again, welcome; we pray that your worship experience is blessed.

Because we want to be a friendly church we ask you to sign our attendance sheet located in the bulletin, please remove the sheet, fill it out, and place it in the offering plate near the end of our service. This allows us to know who you are.

We Welcome Children
All generations are important to Brookhaven Christian Church; we also feel a special calling to children for they are a sign of hope from God. We understand that the Christian faith is only continued when the stories, our faith and traditions are passed down. Sunday school, children's music, and our graded programs all strive to help our younger ones build their own strong, rich faith. We are called, as a church, to nurture, teach and love children of all races, gender and abilities.

The Lord's Supper
The Lord's Supper, communion, is the central theme for our church every week in worship. At Christ's table we come to confess our sin and open ourselves to the unbounded grace of God. Here at Brookhaven Christian Church the table is open to all who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God and claim him as their Lord and Savior. We believe that Jesus died for all our sins, and it is in the breaking of the bread and drinking of the cup that we find new life through Him.

When you choose to join us in communion, partake of the bread on your own as it is passed and hold the cup so that we may partake together as a family of believers.

Joining The Church
Joining yourself to this faith community is an opportunity that is extended to all every week here at Brookhaven. During the hymn of faith, if you wish to join the church, come forward and a minister will accept you into membership. If you are interested in becoming a part of this church or wish to know more about who we are and what we stand for, please feel free to ask any of the ministers after the service, talk to our members, or call the office during the week. From time to time the church offers what is called an Inquirer's Class during our church school hour. This class answers questions about who we are and the ministries we support. This is not a prerequisite for membership, it is only offered because we want you to know who we are as a faith community.

Church Policy On Baptism
Brookhaven Christian Church practices what is called Believer's Baptism. This is baptism by immersion for those who confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God and claim Him as their personal Lord and Savior. Baptism is an act of the Holy Spirit. If you are feeling moved in that direction, please talk to one of our ministers. If you have already been baptized or sprinkled our church does not require rebaptism. If you are not satisfied with your previous baptism then we encourage you to talk with one of our ministers.
