Service and Giving Opportunities at Brookhaven Minimize

One of the three focal points of our congregation is service. Service to the members of this congregation; service to the community; service to the world. At the heart of our service is our commitment to honor God by doing our part to honor all God’s children. We serve because we can. We serve because we are committed to caring “for the least of these” as instructed by Jesus.

We serve because in our actions, God is revealed to a hurting world.

Members and friends of BCC serve the congregation in a variety of ways, including:

  • Through our Music Ministry, which includes the Sanctuary Choir
  • Through service as Sunday School teachers
  • Through volunteering to help with Children’s Church
  • Through our Building and Grounds Ministry
  • Through our Worship Ministry
  • Through our Membership Ministry
  • Through our Stewardship Ministry
  • Through service in church leadership positions

Members and friends of BCC serve the community in individual volunteer efforts, and through our Community Service Ministry.

Through Community Service, we have financial and working relationships with:

In addition, BCC serves as host for a Girl Scout Troop, a weekly Alcoholics Anonymous/Al-Anon meeting, and occasional community meetings.

Through our giving, BCC supports the Disciples Mission Fund, the world outreach program of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Week of Compassion, the emergency relief agency of the denomination.

Week of Compassion has rushed an $18,000 grant to Church World Service for disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. WOC and others also are working to assess the impact on churches and citizens in the Gulf Coast area to help determine additional response efforts. To read more, visit www.weekofcompassion.org

In addition, members of BCC reach out as sponsors of the children of Mission Angeles in Tulian, Honduras. In June of 1999 a group from Brookhaven visited the Mission and the hope is that we will return to help continue to build the connection to our brothers and sisters in Honduras.
